Local Missions

Give Back Day

On the first Saturday of August, collected donations of various used items such as household goods,, furniture, toys/books, baby items, clothes/shoes, medical supplies, and more are given away for free. Community members are invited to come and take what they may need. There are no requirements, and it is open to the community. Monetary donations are accepted for those who would like to make donations to the Missions Committee's future projects.

Appomattox Relay for Life

We sponsored our church team Holy Walkamoiz. We held several fundraisers throughout the year such as a Spaghetti Dinner and homemade peanut butter eggs at Easter. Team Members gather together during the big event, honoring those who have beat cancer and remember loved ones we have lost.

Local Organizations

Memorial Methodist has been able to support several local organizations within the community by collecting donations or providing monetary support.

-Appomattox Pregnancy Support

-Candlelight Ministries

-Appomattox Fellowship of Christian Athletes

-Till the End of Time Animal Sanctuary

-Appomattox Young Life

Established in 2021, Feeding Appomattox started by sending out hot meals to community members on Thanksgiving Day. This mission continues to grow, and so does the need for food support within the community. In July 2025, Feeding Appomattox expanded to be able to serve year-round by providing a food pantry.

Food Pantry

Currently, the pantry is open on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 9-11 am. Emergency and

urgent care needs may reach out to organizer, Casey Vandegrift, to schedule an appointment.

Volunteer opportunities are available year-round. Donations of non-persiahble foods and

personal hygiene are collected year-round.

Thanksgiving Event

Food is donated and prepared by local restaurants, businesses, and community

members. Volunteers gather on Thanksgiving morning to help plate, bag, and deliver

meals. Together, volunteers gather in worship and prayer before each team hits the

road. Teams deliver meals and pray with the families.

Contact Casey Vandegrift at 434-610-6917 or feedingappomattox@gmail.com for more information regarding the food pantry, emergency food support, Thanksgiving meals, donations, or volunteer options.
